Resistor Wheelsets are useful on DCC (Digital Command Control) equipped layouts with block detection for lineside signals, grade crossing activation, and to show block occupancy on a dispatcher’s panel. They allow block detection to work for the entire train, not just the locomotives. It would be very embarrassing to have your crossing gates lift and the lights stop flashing while the train is still going by!
The resistor is contained in the axle, and we offer several Ohm values to suit your needs. Typically, only one resistor wheelset is needed for each car.
All JB Wheelsets Resistor Wheelsets feature precision machine-turned brass wheels conforming to the NMRA RP25 contour standard, with the standard profile width of 0.110”. The 33" and 36" wheelsets feature our new Gun Metal finish, while all others feature the black nickel finish. Both finishes look much more realistic than the “bright and shiny” look of other brands. The wheel surface is smoother than the stamped wheels of other manufacturers, reducing dirt accumulation. JB Wheelsets weigh more, lowering the center of gravity and helping your trains track better.
